A Google Stitch Alternative That Starts From Real UI
Stitch turns a prompt into editable screens. Pluck turns the components you've collected from real websites into new design directions, then hands those components to your coding agent.
Google Stitch is Google Labs' AI UI designer, launched in May 2025 and built on Gemini. You describe an app or a website, or upload a sketch or screenshot, and it generates screens you can edit, connect into clickable prototypes, paste into Figma or export as HTML and CSS. It can extract a design system from a URL, reads and writes DESIGN.md files, and is free within a daily credit allowance.
Pluck Studio comes at a nearby problem from the other end. Instead of starting from a prompt, you start from things you've seen: components you plucked from live websites, kept in a library with their styles. On a board you connect them into prompts and generate design directions with models like Nano Banana, GPT Image and Seedream. When one works, the plucks behind it go to Cursor, Claude or Figma.
The biggest difference is what you get back. Stitch gives you editable screens and code. Pluck Studio gives you an image of a direction, plus the real components to build it from. Which you want depends on how you work.
Choose Pluck if
- You start from references: this site's navigation, that site's pricing table, a third site's density.
- You mix pieces from many sites, including your own app behind a login.
- You want to choose the model for each prompt, compare models, and see the cost before you run.
- You build with a coding agent and want it to get the real components' structure and styles, not a generated approximation.
Stay with Google Stitch if
- You want editable screens and front-end code straight from a prompt.
- You want clickable multi-screen prototypes.
- You want a free tool.
- You design mobile apps as well as websites.
- You work from a written design system (DESIGN.md), or want one extracted from a site.

| What you get | Pluck: Images of design directions, plus the source components to build from | Google Stitch: Editable UI screens, clickable prototypes, HTML and CSS |
| Into Figma | Pluck: Plucks paste as editable layers; generations go in as images | Google Stitch: Paste to Figma (from projects made in Rapid mode) |
| Into code | Pluck: Plucks copy as structured prompts for Cursor, Claude, Lovable, Bolt or v0 | Google Stitch: HTML and CSS export; export to AI Studio and Antigravity; MCP server and SDK |

Prompt-first or reference-first
Stitch is prompt-first. You describe what you want, and it designs something plausible, optionally guided by a sketch, a screenshot or a design system. It's fast and the first draft is often good.
Pluck is reference-first. Most designers already know what they like: a particular navigation, a pricing table, the spacing of a site they admire. Pluck lets you collect exactly those pieces from live websites with one click each, then brief a model with them: "the navigation from the first reference, the pricing table from the second, the palette from our logo."
What you get back
This is Stitch's biggest advantage, and we'd rather say it plainly: Stitch produces editable screens and code. A Pluck Studio generation is an image. It shows the direction; it isn't the design file.
What Pluck gives you instead is the real material. The components behind a direction are still in your library with their structure and computed styles, and they copy as prompts an AI coding tool can rebuild exactly, or as editable Figma layers. If you build with Cursor or Claude Code, that's often a better starting point than generated markup.
Where Stitch is better
Stitch is free, gives you editable screens and code, builds multi-screen prototypes, handles mobile app layouts, and works with written design systems. If you want a first draft of an app from a description, it's the faster path.
Pluck is better when the starting point is real UI you've already found, when you want to mix pieces from several sites, or when you want to pick and compare image models.
Using both
They combine well. Find the direction on a Pluck board, download the generation you like, and upload it to Stitch as a screenshot to get editable screens and HTML. Use the plucks behind it when you need the exact styles of the originals.
