Pluck vs ComfyUI

A ComfyUI Alternative for Designing Products

ComfyUI is a node graph for running models. Pluck Studio is a canvas for designing websites and apps from real references. Same idea of wiring references into prompts, without the plumbing.

ComfyUI is one of the best tools ever made for generative images. It runs open-weight models on your own GPU, chains them into node graphs of any shape, and has a community shipping custom nodes, LoRAs and workflow templates for everything from portraits to video. Comfy Desktop packages it as an app for Windows, macOS and Linux.

Pluck doesn't try to be that. Pluck Studio does one job: working out what a website or app screen should look like. You collect real components from real websites with the Pluck extension, connect them into prompts on a board, and generate designs with hosted models like Nano Banana and GPT Image, or for free through your own Codex. When a direction works, the components behind it go straight into Cursor, Claude, Lovable or Figma.

So if you're looking for a ComfyUI replacement, the honest answer is that for most of what Comfy does there isn't one, and it isn't us. If you're here because you tried to design a landing page in ComfyUI and spent the afternoon wiring nodes, read on.

Choose Pluck if

  • You design websites, apps or dashboards and want mockups built from real UI you've seen.
  • You want Nano Banana, GPT Image, Seedream, Ideogram and Recraft without building a graph for each.
  • You want to see what a run costs before you start it.
  • You want the result to become code: plucks copy as prompts for Cursor, Claude, Lovable or v0, or as Figma layers.
  • You'd rather tell the board what to change in plain words than rewire it.

Stay with ComfyUI if

  • You want to run Flux, SDXL, Wan or other open-weight models on your own GPU, offline.
  • You use LoRAs, ControlNet, IP-Adapter or custom nodes.
  • You make video, audio or 3D, not just images.
  • You need inpainting, masks, upscaling or control over every sampler setting.
  • You want an open-source tool you can extend and script.

Your references are real components

In ComfyUI a reference is an image. In Pluck it's usually a component you plucked from a live website: a navigation bar, a pricing table, a settings page. The extension saves its screenshot, the page it came from and its complete style data (the element tree, computed styles and responsive breakpoints) to your library.

When you connect a pluck into a prompt, the model sees the screenshot along with what it is and where it came from, so a brief like "the navigation from the first reference, the pricing table from the second" reads naturally. The style data comes into play later, when you build the design for real.

The models are picked for UI

Generating a believable interface is mostly about text: headlines, button labels, prices, table headers. Pluck's Auto setting prefers models that render UI text well when your brief mentions those things, and picks one that accepts all of the references you connected.

You can also pick a model by name. Every hosted run shows its credit cost on the prompt card before you start it, and Local runs through your own Codex are free on every plan.

It doesn't stop at an image

A ComfyUI workflow ends with a file. A Pluck board ends with a direction, and the components behind it are still in your library with their full style data. Copy them as an AI prompt for Cursor, Claude, Lovable, Bolt or v0, or paste them into Figma as editable layers, and start building.

Agents can work on the board too. The same tools that power the board chat are exposed over MCP, so Claude Code or Codex can add references, run prompts and read the results.

Where Pluck falls short

Pluck doesn't run models on your GPU and doesn't work offline. Hosted runs happen on our servers, and Local runs send your brief and references to OpenAI through your own Codex account. There are no open-weight models, no LoRAs, no ControlNet, no masks or inpainting, no upscaling and no video.

You get fewer knobs: a brief, an aspect ratio, a quality tier and a prompt template, not a sampler graph. And Pluck isn't open source. If any of those matter for your work, ComfyUI is the better tool, and that's fine.

Using both

Plenty of people will want both. Use a Pluck board to find the direction for a screen, download the generation you like, and bring it into ComfyUI to upscale it, inpaint a region or animate it. Pluck is for deciding what to make; Comfy is unbeatable at refining pixels.
